Cultural Sponsorship
Support the Hebrew Choir Berlin and become a cultural sponsor!
The Hebrew Choir was founded in Berlin in 2014. Currently, between 30 and 40 amateur singers of various ages, nationalities and cultural backgrounds are active members. The choir represents the diversity of life experiences, backgrounds, cultures, and religions in the city of Berlin.
Our repertoire includes contemporary Hebrew songs and classic Israeli choral pieces that reflect the diversity of Hebrew music. In addition to Hebrew, we also sing songs in traditional Jewish languages such as Ladino and Yiddish, which are spoken by only few people today. Yiddish, in particular, is a significant and important part of German-Jewish history that must not be forgotten.
Since 2022, the Hebrew Choir Berlin has been led by Dr. Yael Front. Yael is an up-and-coming conductor who leads our choir with great dedication and enthusiasm; she has already significantly improved our sound and continues to work with us with great joy. Thanks to her, our choir has already grown remarkably, both in terms of the number of our active singers and in terms of our skill and repertoire.
She holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in orchestral and opera conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati (for more information, visit yaelfront.com).
Since June 2024, the choir has been accompanied on the piano by Israeli pianist Ben Holzman. Ben recently completed his master’s degree at the Berlin University of the Arts. He has performed throughout the EU and in Israel and has won prizes at several international competitions in Israel, Malta, Germany, and Italy (for more information, visit https://www.hebrew-choir-berlin.de/benholzman).
Our choir sees itself as an intercultural bridge, promotes exchange between people of different backgrounds, and advocates for peaceful coexistence.
We strengthen Israeli and Jewish musical culture in Berlin and build bridges between cultures, religions, eras, and people. This is particularly important at a time when anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise again worldwide - and, unfortunately, in Berlin as well.
Through our concerts, we introduce a broad audience in Berlin and beyond to Israeli and Jewish culture, raising its profile and thereby helping to break down prejudices and promote mutual understanding. In 2025, the choir was awarded the Geschwister-Mendelssohn Medal by the Berlin Choral Association for our commitment to combating antisemitism and promoting tolerance and diversity.
Over the past three years, both our choir and our audience have grown significantly. Whereas we used to give two concerts a year for a long time, we now perform on average twice as often - and not just in Berlin, but also beyond.
Our membership dues remain our main source of income. We regularly seek grants for individual concert projects - however, we rely on additional funding to sustain the choir, support its musical development, and expand and retain our audience.
We would therefore like to invite you to support the Hebrew Choir Berlin as a cultural sponsor.
